The West London Irish Society

The West London Irish Society was founded in 1953, with the aim of bringing people together and fostering social interaction. It actively supports individuals, charities, organisations and projects designed to improve the lives of people living within the West London Irish Community.

The Society, has over the years, raised funds for many local charities including the homeless, Meadow House Hospice, Guide Dogs for the Blind, Cancer Research, Lourdes Fund, Motor Neurone Association, Tiny Smiles Appeal, The Neonatal Unit, Hillingdon Hospital Equipment Appeal, Cardiology Unit Hammersmith Hospital, Harlington Hospice, Alzheimer’s Concern, Ealing, The Royal Marsden Cancer Campaign, The British Heart Foundation, The Shooting Star Children’s Hospice and many others.

Our Next Event — Saturday, 3rd December 2011

The Society's next event is its Annual Dinner Dance, which will take place at the Renaissance Heathrow Hotel on Saturday, 3rd December 2011. Our chosen charity this year is Harlington Hospice, who are currently building a new Day Care Centre. The Hospice, which was founded in 1984, provides specialist palliative care for those suffering from incurable illnesses including cancer. The Guests of Honour at the Society's Annual Dinner Dance in 2010 were Jim O'Hara, academic, author and chair of the Hammersmith Cultural Centre, and his wife, Hazel. Tony and Kay Leppard received £9,000 on behalf of the Shooting Star Children's Hospice, with £1,000 also being donated to Jet Set. Some photographs are available on the Gallery page.
